Philip Barnes & Co has been part of the Tamworth business community for decades. Operating from The Old Council Chambers on Halford Street, we work with clients who range from sole traders taking their first steps to established farming partnerships and limited companies with complex affairs. What hasn't changed over the years is the way we work: one to one, unhurried, and with the same team looking after you year after year.

Our approach is grounded in the view that good accountancy is largely about relationships. When we understand a client's business — its seasonality, its ambitions, its particular pressures — we give advice that actually fits. That means picking up the phone when something changes, not waiting for the annual accounts meeting. Several of our clients have been with us for fifty years or more; that longevity is, we think, a reasonable measure of what we offer.

We are members of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) and hold additional memberships and qualifications across tax (CTA) and other professional bodies, giving us the technical depth to handle complex tax planning, partnership structuring, business start-ups and more. We also work with the leading cloud accounting platforms — Xero, Sage and QuickBooks — so clients who want real-time visibility of their numbers can have it.
